Course Description
 

This course covers basic Access skills. Students receive hands-on practice in creating, modifying, and sorting database tables, performing queries, creating reports, and designing forms. This couse is designed for students and professional acquiring or updating basic skills in creating and editing access databases. Associate Degree Credit & tranfer to CSU.

 

Advisory:
ENGL 047A or ENGL 048 and ENGL 049 and CBTE 101 and CBTE 114, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5/R5.

 

 
Course Objectives
 
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
  • Identify the features and components of Microsoft Access
  • Design, create, and customize a database.
  • Work with tables, including modifying the table structure.
  • Perform queries to retrieve database information.
  • Create a customize Acess reports
  • Create forms.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs):
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
  • Students will create data field labels that communicates the data in each field when creating a table in Access.
  • Students will identify the correct data type for each field when creating a table in Access.
  • Students will be able to create a table.

 

 
Application and Registration Information
 

REGISTRATION DIRECTIONS:

  1. Complete Online Application (for new SDCCD students). Go to Student Web Services
  2. Receive registration appointment and instructions by email or mail.
  3. Register online at the Reg-e, our online registration system.
  4. Make sure that you pay your tuition so that you don't lose your registration!   Fees and Tuition Information.
  5. Order textbooks online. Visit our online bookstore.
  6. After completion of registration on Reg-e, and several days prior to the start of the semester, you will receive an email with course login instructions. If you don't receive an email please go to http://www.sdccdonline.net and login on the first day of class as follows:

    Type your Blackboard Username = 7-digit College Student Identification (CSID) number
    Type your Password =  mmddyyyy (your birthdate with no hyphens, slashes, or spaces)

    For example:  1010101 (CSID number used at registration)
                           06231980 (password for the birthdate June 23, 1980 )
     
  7. If this course is closed, please login to Reg-e to be placed on a waitlist. If the waitlist is full, you will not be able to add your name to the waitlist.

You will not be able to login to your online course until the first day of the semester!!!
You must login to your online course on the first day of the session to avoid your enrollment being dropped.

** For additional help, I will be offering face-to-face workshops on selected  Fridays at Mesa Learning Resource Center 4th floor.  Check the course syllabus for date / time and email me in advance for an appointment.

**IMPORTANT:** You must log into the course website at least once a week and complete one graded activity prior to 6 PM on October 22, 2017. (Refer to the List of Assignments section in the syllabus.) This will demonstrate that you intend to complete the coursework. Failure to do so will cause you to be dropped from the class.
