Textbook and Course Material Requirements

Required Software:
Successful completion of the course requires reliable access to the Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).
Any version from CS4 forward is supported.

For enrolled students, many educational discounts are available. A good source is www.journeyed.com. To learn what the requirements are and how to submit proof for the discount, see their Purchase Requirement page. Adobe also has discounts available for education at their Creative Cloud for Students page.

There are different versions of the software available from www.adobe.com

Make sure the version you will be using has the 3 programs listed above.

CC (Creative Cloud) is the current version if you are buying it.The system requirements are specific, students are advised to check system requirements before purchasing. City College lab and faculty are supporting CC  Students using certain versions may sometimes need to follow some additional instructions (that will be provided in the course) to save files for instructor review.

Recommended Textbooks
There are no required textbooks. CC titles should be available. Check with the bookstore for most recent versions. Online sources may be best for older versions. Adobe TV online is a great, free way to find tutorials on the class material outside of the course.

Visual Quickstart Guide, Illustrator CC for Windows and Macintosh, Elaine Weinmann and Peter Lourekas, Peachpit Press.

Visual Quickstart Guide, Photoshop CC for Windows and Macintosh, Elaine Weinmann and Peter Lourekas, Peachpit Press.

and Visual Quickstart Guide, InDesign CC for Windows and Macintosh, Sandee Cohen, Peachpit Press,.

Adobe Press offers many excellent titles on these and related subjects. Visual Quickstart also has many other related titles. These books are good for reference, and some step by step guides but not as easy for reading alone.
